Iron Set Generation
Used TaylorMade R7 XD Iron Sets
2005
Released in October 2005, the r7 XD was the game-improvement iron of the r7 era, built around a fully CNC-milled titanium face carrying Inverted Cone Technology to hold ball speed on strikes away from the center. The result was an easy, high launch and real forgiveness on mis-hits, aimed at golfers who wanted help getting the ball airborne rather than the control offered by the r7 TP irons. The set ran from a 19-degree 3-iron through to a 59-degree lob wedge and was sold in several configurations, among them 3-PW with a sand wedge and 4-PW with approach and sand wedges, on TaylorMade's own R7-65 graphite or steel shafts.
