Used Callaway X-Series Jaws

2009–2011

The Jaws wedges were Callaway's answer to the specialist wedge makers, forged from carbon steel and designed by Roger Cleveland around grooves cut as large and sharp as the USGA permitted. When the groove rule changed, the CC generation answered it by adding more of them.

FAQs

The questions buyers ask most about these clubs.

What changed between the 2009 Jaws and the CC generation?

A 2011 rule change outlawed the sharp U grooves the 2009 wedge used, so Jaws CC answered with 21 tightly spaced, deeper Tour CC grooves — forty percent more grooves rather than sharper ones.

What's Dark Vintage?

A deliberately aged finish offered only on the 2009 original, distinct from the Milky Chrome alternative and not carried over to the CC generation.

Is X-Series Jaws the same line as the later Jaws wedges?

It's the predecessor — Mac Daddy grooves designed with Phil Mickelson's input, forged from 1020 carbon steel, ahead of the later Jaws MD5/Full Toe/Raw generations.
