Used Callaway Mack Daddy

2013–2020

Mack Daddy took its name from the aggressive grooves Callaway had put on the X-Series Jaws, and became the company's wedge line for most of a decade. Roger Cleveland designed every generation, and the arc runs from soft forged carbon steel toward ever more aggressive groove geometry.

FAQs

The questions buyers ask most about these clubs.

Which Mack Daddy generation should I look for?

Mack Daddy 2 established the line in 2013 with 1020 carbon steel and larger grooves; MD3 Milled added three sole grinds for different turf and swing types; Mack Daddy Forged is the softer-feel option sold alongside MD3; MD4 added Groove-in-Groove for spin on open-faced shots; Mack Daddy CB is the only cavity back, built to forgive a missed strike.

Is there a forgiving Mack Daddy wedge?

Mack Daddy CB — a deep cavity back and slightly larger head, the only generation in the line aimed at players who miss the middle rather than shape shots deliberately.

What's the difference between MD3 Milled's sole grinds?

S, C and W, matched to turf and swing type — the grind changes how the sole interacts with the ground, not the spin the grooves generate.

Which finish holds up best?

Chrome — Satin Chrome on the earlier generations, Platinum Chrome on MD4 — resists rust best; Slate and Matte Black cut glare but dull or wear through faster.
